During his recent visit to Bogotá, Daniel Nazer, lawyer who occupies the Mark Cuban Chair to Eliminate Stupid Patents of the Electronic Frontier Foundation -EFF- in the USA, visited Karisma to talk about the way EFF fights against the patent trolls in the USA.

Daniel struck up a conversation with Juan Camilo Contreras -intellectual property professor at Javeriana University- and our director Carolina Botero, using as a backdrop the battles of the EFF against the ‘patent trolls’ and their efforts to prevent the law from being reformed of USA patents to talk about the problems of software patenting and the future trends in this issue in USA as in Colombia.

At EFF, Daniel works on issues of patents, copyright and freedom of expression. Prior to working at the EFF, Daniel was a Residential Fellow at the Stanford Law School’s Internet and Society Center. He also practiced at Keker & Van Nest, LLP in San Francisco, and at American Civil Liberties Union. Daniel has a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Western Australia and a JD from the Yale Law School.

We invite you to see the conversation that took place in the following video
